So: Are you really free???

On the other hand children have too much freedom.  So, like a bird let out of a cage with no purpose, which flies free and gets eaten by the cat, children are behaving the same. (Personal true story; my parakeet who was allowed freedom in the house, actually flew to the head of a stray cat that came into the house when I opened the door. No big surprise, the cat killed him.)

It’s called responsibility. Now these children feel entitled and have, in many cases, been passed to higher grades, not because they know the material, but because they are older.  Many in higher grades admit having a harder time reading, cannot spell and even fewer know anything about their country; geography. Math can only be done using a calculator. What has happened to us?

Entitlement = no goal = no purpose

Lack of either of these = no need to strive for anything; feeling useless, but still wanting more.

There is a huge void within and the frustration and restlessness to fill this void result in grabbing for anything that might fill it even momentarily, such as: alcohol, drugs, and how about the big one that children are diagnosed with… Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).  It’s not a pretty picture, but it is a True oneread more in the book.
